Flags, Gunpowder and Politicians

I've been seriously delayed in getting this blog post up and complete because we've been without useable Internet for a week. So the story is a week old. This weekend has been a bit different, so watch out for the next exciting installment in what is becoming nothing short of a revolution in Ethiopia - something the BBC seems to be ignoring. There are a couple of videos that can be viewed in full screen HD for the full effect, especially the dash cam video - there's something interesting in every clip.

Change

The Official Ethiopian FlagThe flag of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has been essentially unchanged since 1996 after the communist regime fell and the government of Prime Minister Meles Zenawi redefined it. In 2009 the blue disc was darkened, and government Proclamation No. 654/2009 dispelled all doubt about the legal status of the flag, how it was to be used, and the penalties for using a flag not conforming to the official description.
