Muger Gorge Picnic
Assuming the end of the rainy season and to get out of the city for a bit of fresh air we went with a group of others from Bingham on a picnic to the Muger Gorge, a couple of hours' drive north of Addis. The road was OK for most of the way but we bounced along unmade and partially constructed roads to reach the edge of the gorge. It was an area of considerable industry, with several cement factories scarring the otherwise beautiful landscape. Our lookout point was where a small cable car ended, designed to bring material up from the gorge to be transported away. The area was alive with Meskel flowers, as you will see.
