After the Holiday, the Blog Post

We returned to Addis on 10th July after a lovely time visiting the family in Chelmsford, Norwich, Edinburgh, Kettering, Cheltenham and Southampton. It was also great to pop in to St Albans for a few days and catch up with friends and colleagues there. Attending Spicer Street church was a highlight, as well as being invited to a 25th wedding anniversary celebration. So here's a blog post about some of our adventures. I'll post a gallery of pictures just as soon as the Internet allows me to - we've spent today with no electricity, no water and only 3G Internet which is proving decidedly flaky. Oh the joys of trying to run a modern lifestyle in a developing country. And the rainy season is in full flood, literally. It's been chucking it down most of the day, and it's cold, dull and dreary. As its Ramadan the call to prayer from the local mosques livens things up a bit every few hours, especially at 4am each day.

An Umbrella Tale

Second go at writing this. Five minutes ago I’d settled down, typed the title, and bang the power went off. Only twenty four minutes of battery left, so hasty switch to my work laptop (which hasn’t quite made it all the way to work yet…) which has 90% battery for three hours or so. Welcome back to Addis. Now I’m on a timescale…
