This is the entrance to Trinity cathedral, built by Haile Selasse, started before and finished after the brief occupation of Ethiopia by the Italians 1936 to 1943. Inside the church is a plaque with a picture of George slaying a dragon and an inscription thanking the British forces that helped end the Italian occupation. (Those few years are the only time in Ethiopian history that the nation has been occupied.) The tombs of Haile Selasse and his wife are inside the cathedral.
