Seble (our house worker) told me that the same day that we met Handana (the lady living beneath the bridge) and gave her a small gift of money, someone else brought her a few clothes and a little money. With these gifts she has bought chewing gum and tissues to sell. She can sell these with the baby strapped to her back and no longer has to spend all her time begging.

Seble tells me she is ‘very happy’.
