Happiness is...

Looking at the BBC storm warnings for the UK recently, prompted me to blog about the weather here in Addis which I still appreciate every day. Since we arrived in November, the weather has remained the same. Usually cloudless blue sky and sunshine. There is a big contrast in temperature between shade and sunshine, so we dress for a British summer but with extra layers to wear indoors. If you feel cold here, you may go and sit outside to warm up!

Consequently, I am able rely on the weather to take groups from Grade 4 for guided reading onto the field. Booster sessions with a little girl in KG (Kindergarten) can also take place in the outside playground, recently we used stones to make sets of two, five and ten.

In the next few weeks I will be practising with KG for Field Day (sports day) with sack, 3-legged, and beanbag races amongst others.

Another feature that I really enjoy here are the beautiful flowers. Plants that I have tried so carefully to coax into blossom in the UK, grow outside here with minimal maintenance. In fact an Ethiopian worker with a hose pipe tends the geraniums outside our apartment and that seems to be sufficient.

I would love some of that warm weather right now. It is so wet and miserable. Lovely to read your blogs Chris. X
